Watch that? Read This!

You know when you read an amazing novel or watch an amazing movie and tv series, you want to read something like what you’ve read and watched? In this new post in the miscellaneous section of booknotions.com I’m going to list some books you should read if you’ve watched certain movies and shows! There will be a few spoilers so keep that in mind before you read this.

Emily In Paris

For those of you who watch shows on Netflix, you may or may not watch Emily In Paris. Emily In Paris tells the story of a woman named Emily Cooper who’s hired to provide an American perspective at a marketing firm in France. Other than working, Emily finds adventure, tastes the amazing French food, becomes friends with another expat, Mindy who’s from Shanghai and Paris local Camille & of course falls in love. The catch is Emily falls in love with Gabriel, Camille’s boyfriend and in season 2 dates English expat Alfie (who I can’t stand) and juggles two men. In season 4 Emily falls in love with Italian stallion Marcello when she takes a detour to Rome. I’ve been watching this show since it first aired in 2020 and can’t wait for season 5. Now let’s get back to the books. If you are going through Emily In Paris withdrawals like I am, these are books you should definitely worth reading!

Paris Is Always A Good Idea by Jenn McKinley is about a woman named Chelsea Martin who after finding out that her father is getting remarried after knowing the woman for two weeks, she realizes, her life stopped after her mom passed and threw herself into work and hasn’t been on a vacation since her European adventures back in her early 20! So, to figure out how to be spontaneous and happy again, Chelsea retraces her steps in Europe to meet the men she fell in love with, in Ireland Chelsea reconnects with Colin, in Paris she reconnects with Jean Claude, & in Italy Marcelino. To complicate matters even more, an annoyingly cute coworker, Jason Knightley follows Chelsea to Europe. Like Emily In Paris, Chelsea goes on adventures and juggles a few attractive men. If you enjoy rom coms with adventure like Emily In Paris, I recommend reading Paris Is Always A Good Idea.

Another book to read if you enjoy Emily In Paris, is Paris For One and Other Stories by Jojo Moyes. While the book has several short stories, the best story is the first and obvious title, Paris For One. In Paris For One, Nell is twenty six and has never been to Paris, & really she’s never been spontaneous or adventurous, but for whatever reason decides to do it this time. When Nell’s boyfriend ends up flaking on their mini vacation, Nell decides to go alone. While alone in Paris, Nell discovers a hidden independent and adventurous spirit she didn’t know she had. Nell dresses the part of a Parisian woman & also falls in love with the struggling writer Fabian. Fabian and she end up going on a magical boat ride along the River Seine. For fellow Emily In Paris fans if you read all the stories in this anthology by Jojo Moyes, or even if you just read Paris For One, Paris For One is definitely Tres Magnifique!
