The Three Lives of Alix St. Pierre

The Three Lives of Alix St. Pierre

Today I finished one of the best novels of 2023 titled “The Three Lives of St. Pierre”. Yes you read that correctly. “The Three Lives of Alix St. Pierre,” comes out January 10th 2023. A cool thing about being a blogger is sometimes authors and publicists send an early copy of the book before it’s published. Closer to the publication date I will do a Q&A with Natasha Lester herself. The novel is about a woman named Alix St. Pierre and it goes between the War years where Alix is part of the OSS in Switzerland doing her part to help the resistance and Italian partisans against the Nazis. The other time line is shortly after the war in 1947 where Alix is a publicity director for the then unknown House of Dior. Alix also has to deal with an old Nazi foe that pretended to be an informant only to betray her in the end.

To say the novel was good would be an understatement. The novel hooked me in from the very first page. I began reading “The Three Lives of Alix St. Pierre”, last Thursday after I finished reading “Daisy Darker,” and devoured and finished it today. The story kept me on my toes I had to know what happened next. I like most of the characters especially Alix, Anthony March and Matteo. Anthony made me swoon a little and so did Matteo I can see why Alix fell in love with both of them. I like how determined and hardworking Alix is to do the right thing and be something more than the typical woman of that time. It was also fascinating reading about Rita Hayworth wearing one of Dior’s gowns and the authors note confirmed most of what was true and the few bits which were fiction.

I will say the show down between Alix and the Nazi who got away with his crimes was a little underwhelming. I guess I was expecting more to happen. Then again we have to remember not all Nazi’s paid for their crimes and some of them either spent some short time in prison or were free to live new lives when they should be making peace with their creator before their death comes.

Overall this was one of the best books of 2023 and we’re not quite done with 2022 just yet. If you’re not a blogger or don’t have the Netgalley app to request an early copy of “The Three Lives of Alix St. Pierre,” you need to pre-order it now so it will arrive the day its published on January 10th of 2023. Thank you Natasha and Nicole for an early copy of this novel, I look forward to doing a Q&A closer to when the novel is available.
