The Spirit Collection of Thorne Hall

The Spirit Collection of Thorne Hall

In the manor known as Thorne Hall tucked away in the Berkshires, fourteen restless spirits reside and are bound to the property since the Gilded Age. Elegy Thorne bears the cross of keeping the spirits under control. Elegy sings old folk songs to keep the spirits calm and preserve the house as it was in the 1890s to early 1900s. Elegy also uses runes as protection. A preservationist & his handsome young son Atticus comes to restore the manor, and Atticus opens Elegy’s mind & gives her hope that her future can be hers after all. But will evil spirits and other forces stop them?

Well.. The Ending Was Great at Least…

I felt the effort was great and I thought I would enjoy it since it has ghosts and romance in it. The book was described as Jane Eyre meets The Haunting of Bly Manor and I’m one of the few fans who enjoyed The Haunting of Bly Manor more than I did The Haunting of Hill House. The story just dragged most of the time. I know Elegy was sheltered, but it felt odd that she would still speak as though she were in The Gilded Age/Victorian Era when her part took place in the modern day. Towards the last part of the book is where things get interesting when they figure out how to free the spirits and it is revealed why Jasper began binding the spirits as well as other secrets. Maybe with some more editing this could have been a better story. It had potential but the execution fell flat. The Spirit Collection of Thorne Hall by J. Ann Thomas came out today on February 11th & is available to read now!
