The Mysterious Mr. Nakamoto

The Mysterious Mr. Nakamoto: A Fifteen-Year Quest to Unmask the Secret Genius Behind Crypto

2025 seems like the year for Bitcoin books to be released. This year two books come out one I recently finished The Mysterious Mr. Nakamoto: A Fifteen-Year Quest to Unmask the Secret Genius Behind Crypto by Benjamin Wallace & The Devil In Bitcoin by Jake Adelstein. In The Mysterious Mr. Nakamoto, Benjamin Wallace spends fifteen years trying to find out who this elusive Satoshi Nakamoto is. The book is a mixture of nonfiction and a real unsolved mystery that I think Netflix should take on for the Unsolved Mysteries reboot.

Writing, Non-Linear Timeline, A Mystery with Several Suspects

The writing is great, and I will say the book is non-linear, meaning it goes back and forth between recent years and the early years of bitcoin. Benjamin Wallace keeps things interesting, giving us several suspects to consider. One of his friends Sahil thought Elon Musk could have created Bitcoin. Another major suspect is Australian Craig Wright. At one point in the book Craig did claim that he, Dave Kleiman and a third person were behind the Satoshi name and creators of Bitcoin. I’ve got an open mind it could be anyone. Maybe Satoshi Nakamoto is one man, maybe he’s Japanese, maybe Satoshi Nakamoto is a group of people. I think many of us wonder why Satoshi doesn’t want to be known. Poppy (my grandfather) has a theory that Bitcoin’s elusive creator might not want to be known so he won’t have to pay taxes. If Craig Wright is an imposter, then he’s like who Anna Anderson was to the real Anastasia. If you want a nonfiction book with investigative journalism with an unsolved mystery with bitcoin, get a copy of The Mysterious Mr. Nakamoto which is out today on March 18th wherever books are sold!
