The Ghost Women

The Ghost Women

On a steaming hot summer day in August of 1972, the body of Abel Montague is found hanging from a tree in the forest nearby St. Luke’s Academy of the Arts. Abel is hung in the shape of a hangman on a tarot card. Detective Lola Germany arrives at the college wanting to get to the bottom of it. One by one, students are murdered in the exact pose on the tarot cards. Lola finds that St. Lukes, used to be an old monastery where ritualistic murders took place. It seems history is repeating itself.

 Story & Descriptive Writing

I like that the story is a murder mystery that has magic from witches and tarot cards mixed in, even though I wouldn’t use them being a Catholic and all. The story did drag in parts, but not enough for me to want to quit reading. Jennifer Murphy made the story come to life. The writing is descriptive. Be aware there’s violence in the book if that’s not your thing. I like how there’s also the past that connects with the 70s timeline. The mystery being revealed was done well. It wasn’t what or who I expected while at the same time making sense.
