The Family Inside
The Family Inside
To say Iris Blodgett has been through a lot in recent years is an understatement. Iris’s husband was murdered three years prior leaving her a widow and single mother to her daughter Ellory. Now Iris is losing her home and her kind boyfriend of three months, Hugh offered to give Iris & Ellory a place to stay in his mother’s centuries old mansion while he renovates it. Though once Iris arrives, she realizes how little she knows Hugh & while it doesn’t stop her from getting engaged to him after three months of dating, she finds he and his family are not what they seem… Can Iris solve the mystery of Hugh’s family before the mystery consumes her?
Story, Writing & Twists
Katie Garner’s second novel is even better than her first novel! I love the story about a single mother and her daughter and a family with secrets that are darker than the night sky. I like how the writing and pacing shifted from Iris’s point of view to Ellory’s point of view. Sometimes the pacing seemed a little slow, but I was still interested in finding out the unsolved mysteries. Other than Iris & Ellory I like Iris’s friends Ainsely & Sloane. Every time I thought I had the story figured out, I was thrown twists as though they were grenades, but it all made sense, and it wasn’t out of left field which makes it a great mystery. The Family Inside by Katie Garner is available to buy today on January 28th! I look forward to reading what other mysteries you will have us solve as though they were intricate puzzles Katie!
