Stories of 2026: The Books I Can’t Wait to Open Part II

Yesterday I did a list of Stories of 2026: The Books I Can’t Wait to Open and while the list could have been a few pages long, I narrowed it down to 6 books! Of course, there’s more than 6 books I’m excited about reading. Its why I’m creating this list of 6 more books that are being released in 2026 that I can’t wait to open!

Dominion by Jean Kwok is the first book in a trilogy. The story is inspired by Chinese mythology and has magic, adventure and romance. After reading The Leftover Woman back in 2023 by Jean and enjoying it, I have a feeling I will enjoy this one. I do enjoy magic and romance just like I enjoy mystery thriller. I realize that both The Leftover Woman & Dominion are two different books and two different genres, but I believe that Jean’s creative magic will make this just as wonderful. I can’t wait to read how she does her very first romantasy. Dominion will be released on July 14th! I look forward to reading it and interviewing Jean again!

The Unicorn Hunters by Katherine Arden, blends history and the magical into something exciting! After reading The Bear and The Nightingale & The Warm Hands of Ghosts, this is on top of my want to read list. This story is about Anne of Brittany promising her father not to let Brittany be conquered by their enemies. She makes a political match to marry the French prince. Anne and her court wander into the forest and encounter a real unicorn. A unicorn is a rarity no one has encountered in centuries. Anne also meets a stranger of legend who falls at her feet. In a world of enchantment, Anne finds that she may have the power to change her fate and the fate of her people or else be lost in the shadows forever. The Unicorn Hunters will be released on June 2nd! I hope to interview Katherine one of these days when her schedule permits it.

A Time of Witches by Madeline Martin goes between the past and the present. While not too much is known, I know there’s two or three different timelines one of which is the Salem Witch Trials. Of course there’s also books involved in classic Madeline Martin fashion. I can’t wait to read it. I have interviewed Madeline in the past and I can’t wait to interview her again. A Time of Witches will be released on September 1st 2026. That’s my grandfather Poppy’s birthday!

Served Him Right by Lisa Unger is about two sisters named Ana & Vera Blacksmith. Ana is looked at as a suspect after a bombshell comes out about her ex-boyfriend Paul. Apparently, Ana isn’t the only one who had a motive to have an ax to grind with Paul. Things look very bad for Ana when a friend of theirs at the brunch celebrating Ana and Paul’s break up that the friend falls ill, deathly ill…. Can Ana & Vera clear Ana’s name before she goes down for a crime she didn’t commit? Can they keep their own past a secret? I can’t wait to read this one and hopefully do a Behind The Book Q&A with Lisa. I did one of my very first Q&As with Lisa almost 4 years ago. Served Him Right will be released on March 10th, 2026!

A Deadly Episode by Anthony Horowitz is a who done it mystery. The actor portraying Ex Detective Inspector Daniel Hawthorne, David Caine was stabbed to death. Everyone on set had a very good motive to want their costar dead. Was David Caine the one meant to meet his violent end? Or did the killer really aim to kill the real Daniel Hawthorne? That is one mystery Daniel must solve. Or else the next time, the killer won’t make a mistake… I love who done it mysteries. After reading Marble Hall Murders by Anthony Horowitz and watching both Magpie Murders & Moonflower Murders on PBS Masterpiece also based on Anthony’s books, I became a fan. I can’t wait to read Daniel’s story in this who done it. Whats very nice is you don’t have to read the previous books to be caught up with the current because each book stands alone. A Deadly Episode will be released on April 28th 2026! I can’t wait for my early copy from HarperCollins. It’ll be like an early birthday present since my birthday is April 29th!

We’ve Hit Turbulence by Jessica L. Cozzi is a romantic comedy about Olivia Austin wanting to visit her long distance boyfriend on the sandy beaches of Hawaii. It’s something the doctor ordered. Though Olivia can’t quite shake the feeling that their relationship is on the rocks. To complicate matters more, Olivia’s seat mate is her ex-boyfriend Tyler Ferris. She never got over him. I interviewed Jessica almost two years ago. One was discussing We’ve Hit Turbulence & an Authors In The Media Q&A discussing her publicist career. We’ve Hit Turbulence will be released on January 13th! I can’t wait to read this one and whatever else Jessica writes next!
