Self-made affluent real estate woman Kate believes that she’s marrying the love of her life Charlie from highschool. Julie, Kate’s daughter, is happy to see her mother happy with her one true love. The happily ever after, however, doesn’t end so happily. On the wedding night, Kate calls Julie & the police telling them something awful about Charlie. Charlie admitted to being a part of the Tylenol murders. Charlie claims that he never said that. Eric, Julie’s husband and Kate’s son-in-law thinks Kate is losing her mind. Julie isn’t sure what to believe? Who is the true villain and who is gaslighting her?
Concept, Writing & Characters
I like the concept of the book and the writing. I read Bonnie Kistler’s previous book Her Too and know her writing is easy to understand and descriptive. The characters, I didn’t really connect with them. I was indifferent to most of them. Eric was the one who I really disliked, and Julie I felt put up with too much by him. The twist between Eric and his intentions was interesting. The other stuff was underwhelming. The book is a quick read. It wasn’t the worst book I read but it wasn’t the best either. Shell Games by Bonnie Kistler came out on November 19th & is available to read now!
