Rangers Apprentice Series Getting Adapted

I love doing newsletters about everything book related. It’s been a while since I did one about a book or a series getting the adaptation treatment. For those who are fans of the Rangers Apprentice series, Hollywood is going to adapt the books into movies! According to the Deadline article, Skydance has gotten control of the John Flanagan book series & has closed a big deal with Hidden Figures helmer Ted Melfi to adapt, direct & produce the film.

The Ruins of Gorlan & The Burning Bridge will start off the series. The main character is Will, an orphan who becomes an apprentice to mysterious protectors known as the Rangers. Will becomes skilled at archery, tracking and a warrior to keep the fantasy Kingdom of Araluen safe from invaders, traitors, and many threats. On Will’s adventures he has his best friend Horace & his mentor Halt by his side. What’s interesting and sweet is John Flannagan started Rangers Apprentice of as a short story to get his son into reading.

In addition to the nineteen-volume Ranger’s Apprentice series, Skydance has also optioned for the rights to adapt Flanagan’s nine-volume The Brotherband Chronicles book series. Finally, some originality in Hollywood again! For fans of the series I hope you are excited!
