Q&A With Kimberley Troutte

I am delighted to be doing this Q&A with USA Today & New York Times Bestselling Author Kimberley Troutte! Kimberley was kind enough to reach out to me first! Normally I’m the one who reaches out to everyone else! Kimberley is the author of several books. Some of them are series. Her series are The Infiltrix, The SEAL EXtreme Team, The Alaskan Guardsmen, The Plunder Cove (which is part of Harlequin Books). Kimberley’s solo novels are God Whisperer, Catch Me In Castile & Soul Stealer!

Q: Kimberley, would you give a brief description of your work beginning with The Infiltrix Series?

A: My books are generally about teams who risk everything for each other while fighting the greatest odds during intense missions to save lives.  I love great brotherhoods and heart-stopping adventures.

The Infiltrix is my new futuristic thriller series (not a romance). It is the one I am writing now and super excited about. Reviewers love it! Agent Heather Slade risks everything to lead a team on dangerous missions while living deeply undercover and spying on the brutal enemy. She is perfect for the job–a beautiful fake with a swift roundhouse kick. Heather is also searching for missing prisoners of war, including her own little girl.

The SEAL EXtreme Team is a romantic suspense series about a group of closely-knit SEALs working off-book missions to rescue family, loved ones, and save the day in exotic locales.

The Alaskan Guardsmen is a romantic suspense series about a brotherhood of Coast Guards who support each other, save lives and find love during search and rescue missions in Alaska.

The Plunder Cove series for Harlequin Desire is about a dysfunctional family who comes together to find intrigue, love, and finally understand and fix past wrongs in a family-owned exclusive hotel and restaurant in Plunder Cove.

God Whisperer is a romantic suspense novel about a mother who is hiding with her young son off-the grid when an ear surgery allows the boy to hear God.

Q: Did you feel as though you were called to be an author just like I was called to be a book blogger?

A: Aww, I love that you feel you were called to be a book blogger. It’s great when we are doing the things we are passionate about. I love storytelling in all forms–movies, books, radio, ghost stories around the campfire…

In my twenties, I had an idea for a novel and felt tingles in my belly when I thought about writing it down. Could I be an author? Many people want to write a book but don’t follow it through. It takes time, a lot of time, education, willpower, and a large dose of stick-to-it-ness. Twenty years after I started it, Catch Me in Castile, my first tingles book, was published. I kept writing, practicing, growing and am now twenty books in. The key is to do what you are passionate about because you love to do it and don’t stop.

Q: Where do your ideas for your stories come from? What lessons & emotions do you hope readers learn after reading your books?

A: The germ of the idea for stories comes from…everywhere!

The Infiltrix spy story is a cautionary tale about what happens when a civil war destroys a country, and freedoms are lost. No one gets out unscathed from a civil war and most of us do not want an evil dictator ruling our lives. I want readers to feel, even in the darkest hours, that there is hope. Heather and her team are fighting together for love, respect, and freedom. They will risk everything to save lives and find the ones who have gone missing. Love always wins over hate.

Q: Will your next book be a solo work, part of an existing series or the beginning of a new series?

A: My focus right now is The Infiltrix Series. Let me tell you, these missions are intense! I am having so much fun with them and creating futuristic spy gadgets is a kick.

The Package (Book 1) is out now. The Surveillance (Book 2) is available for pre-order and will be released in February. The Intel (Book 3) is done and waiting for production, The Mole (Book 4) is in edits now. I have just started writing The Extraction (Book 5).

I can’t wait for readers to get their hands on all these books. I’m dying to chat about them!
