Q&A With Chris Denmead

Publicist Mickey Mikkelson was kind enough to connect me with author Chris Denmead who released his debut novel about a gender swapped Dracula novel called Vlada: A Dracula Tale. New York Times Bestselling author Johnathan Mayberry another author I did a Q&A with, in the past, wrote the forward in the book. Chris also hosts a horror themed radio show, The Dr. Chris Radio of Horror show that has been broadcasting since 2007!

Q: Chris, what gave you the idea to write a gender swapped Dracula in Vlada: A Dracula Tale?

A: I saw a play where they gender swapped the cast of Star Trek and Hamlet and said Hey, I wonder if anyone had done that to Dracula and no one had and still hasn’t to this day SO I wrote it with all the characters in mind as a movie and then a comic book after the movie failed on kick starter.

Q: How long did it take you to write the book?

A:  It was an adaptation of the preexisting movie script so not very long.

Q: Are you currently writing your next book? If so is it a sequel to Vlada: A Dracula Tale or is it something different?

A: The next book is called the New England Comic Book store owners, about various business owners in a New England town that owns comic shops and not the end, a comic book about suicide and depression. I have Vlada Chronicles of the Damned and Tales of the damned as sequels and am currently working on one more.

Q: What was it like having Johnathan Mayberry write the forward to your book? I did a Q&A with him in the past and I’m now doing one with you. Its such a small world!

A:  I have known John for a long time. He’s been on my show three times, so it was easy to ask him for this favor. Recently I asked Batman Producer Michael Uslan to write the forward for my next book New England Comic Book Store owners.

Q: If Hollywood gets the rights to (if they haven’t already) Vlada: A Dracula Tale, who would be your dream cast to play the characters?

A: Hmmm Charlize Theron or Gal Gadot because WOW are they perfect for the character both have the look of a stone-cold killer in their face

Q:  Would you please tell the readers of the blog & I about your radio show The Dr. Chris Radio of Horror? How did the idea come about for it & what is your advice for anyone wanting to have a radio show as popular as you have?

A: The Blog or site is connected to my 17-year-old radio show Radio of Horror. It broadcasts on Sunday nights. We talk about horror movies and some sci-fi too, interviews with actors’ directors special effects makeup artists authors artists and more.
