Pisa Loves Bella

Pisa Loves Bella

Pisa Loves Bella is a charming children’s book filled with rhymes told by the point of view of Bella, Italy’s famous Leaning Tower of Pisa. Bella has always felt proud of her gravity defying tilt that has never collapsed in the hundreds of years it has stood. Bella’s confidence is tested one day when she hears hurtful words about her appearance. Bella then decides to change herself which leaves the residents & visitors from around the world who do love her, worried that the treasured tower will never be the same.

Beautiful Rhymes, A Timeless Lesson

The rhyming in Pisa Loves Bella is exquisite! I think my favorite rhyme was when Mayor Luigi told Bella

Bella my dear

You should be proud

Of the way you appear!

Kind comments, like roses,

Are cheery and charming.

Sharp, thorny words?

Of course, they’re alarming!

But dear splendid Bella,

They’ll hurt beyond measure

If you let them take root

And forget you’re a treasure!

The timeless lesson from that quote is words can be beautiful, and they can be cruel. It’s a reminder for children to practice kindness, BUT to also not let nasty words keep them down. The illustration by Barbara Bongini is beautiful! The exquisite drawings and art! I am treasuring and keeping this book. If/when I become a mother, God willing I will read this book to them. I would also read this to any nieces and nephews and any children I cross paths with and teach them the importance of kindness. Thank you, Kimberley Lovato, for writing this treasure!
