News about A Gentlemen in Moscow series
This morning I saw Amor Towels post on his instagram page news about A Gentlemen in Moscow series which is based on his novel of the same name. Ewan McGregor is going to play the main lead of Count Alexander Rostov replacing Kenneth Branagh as the lead. While we don’t know why Kenneth isn’t going to play the count anymore, I assume it’s because of his busy schedule. Kenneth is playing Boris Johnson in a movie about him, and he’s been playing Hercule Poriot a popular Agatha Christie detective. Ewan I think will be a great Count Alexander Rostov. According to Towels, filming starts in six months. Previous news was the series based on “A Gentlemen in Moscow,” would be a limited TV series on Apple TV. Now it’s going to be a series on Showtime.
According to townandmagazine.com The series is created and executive produced by Ben Vanstone, who’s also the showrunner for PBS Masterpiece’s beloved James Herriot adaptation, All Creatures Great and Small. McGregor will be an executive producer alongside Vanstone and Tom Harper, a BAFTA-nominated director who’s worked on Peaky Blinders and War & Peace.
“The book is a rare and delicious treat and I fell in love with it the moment I picked it up 6 years ago,” Harper said. “We are thrilled that Amor entrusted this brilliant team with bringing the Metropol to life and couldn’t be more delighted that Ewan will be playing the Count.”
I’m excited! I can’t wait to see how Ewan McGregor will do to playing Count Alexander Rostov. I also can’t wait to see who will play Anna Urbanova his love interest, Nina who he befriends, and Nina’s daughter Sofia, who he becomes a guardian to after Nina goes looking for her husband and is never heard from again. I also think it will be better as a series on Showtime because on movie channels like Showtime, HBO, and Starz there won’t be commercials interrupting our shows. I will update you all when more news is made specific about the show.
