Gothictown

Gothictown

Billie Hope receives an email that seems like a blessing from Heaven. For $100.00 she can purchase a Victorian Home in the town of Juliana Georgia & have a new start opening a restaurant there after the pandemic closed her restaurant in New York. Billie, her husband Peter & their young daughter Meredith move to Juliana. They are made apart of the community & at first everything seems great. Though there’s something off about the town and the elders. There’s secrets & history that’s darker than the night sky filled with nightmares, sacrifices, & spirits crying out for justice….

Writing, Characters, Mystery, Horror & History

Emily Carpenter’s writing is descriptive. I really like many of the female characters especially Billie, Meredith, Alice, & Wren. I love that there are parts of the book that goes back to the past that reveals the mystery behind the town’s dark past. I like the scene where Billie was in the woods and the ghosts and nightmares. I love how the cat became crazy like a catwampus which is a Cherokee legend. I could see this as a movie or show in my head as everything unfolded. There were parts that seemed too slow for me, but it wasn’t too slow to where I wanted to stop reading. I like how in the Acknowledgments Section Emily wrote how she used inspiration from her own town in Georgia for the real history and fictional town to create Juliana. If you enjoy tales of horror & mystery, I suggest going out to the bookstore today or ordering a copy of Gothic Town which is released today on March 25th wherever books are sold!
