Game of Thrones News

I know being cooped up in the house a giant portion of the time isn’t easy since we’re in the middle of a pandemic, but we make the best of things and George RR Martin is following that example. He is working very hard on the sixth book in “The Song of Ice and Fire,” series (I still call it Game of Thrones) “The Winds of Winter.” George RR Martin spent the last few months in a cabin in the mountains. On his blog post on Tuesday he is sharing with fans that he is staying safe and expects “The Winds of Winter,” to be completed in 2021.

George wrote that although he wrote multiple chapters he still has a long way to go, but he promises a great book. Like all of us coping in the midst of this pandemic, he’s had his bad days that make him blue and his good days that give him hope. George also updated fans on several of his other projects. One of the big ones is this time a Game of Thrones prequel series is coming to HBO.

The name of the prequel show is The House of the Dragon which is based on his novel, “Fire & Blood”. The novel takes place 300 years before the events of the main Game of Thrones story and tells the story of House Targaryen, rich in the dragonlord ancestors of Daenerys. According to Deadline’s article,

HBO President of Programming Casey Bloys said in an interview with Deadline during TCA.

“My guess is sometime in 2022,” he said about when the series will premiere, stressing that it is too early to be more specific than that.

“They are starting writing,” Bloys said of the project from George R.R. Martin and Ryan Condal.

I will post an update on my blog when more news comes out. I hope this time around House of the Dragon won’t get cancelled before it airs like the prequel show with Naomi Watts and Georgia Henley did. I hope this news made you Game of Thrones fans excited. I know I’m mixed considering on one hand I want to see a prequel but on the other hand I wasn’t crazy about how the show ended. I’m still curious to see how a prequel will do.
