Daisy Darker
Daisy Darker
Yesterday I began reading “Daisy Darker,” by Alice
Feeney and finished it this afternoon. This was my second time reading from
Feeney. The first time I read from Feeney was last years release “Rock Paper
Scissors”. “Daisy Darker,” is about a woman named Daisy and her dysfunctional family.
They mainly avoid one another, but reunite for Daisy’s grandmothers 80th
birthday. Grandmother reads her will which of course upsets Daisy’s selfish
family. The family is stuck together for eight hours because of the high tide.
During that time each family member is killed off one by one. Someone in that
house is a murderer.
Pros
Many say this novel is a somewhat modern day version
of Agatha Christie’s “And Then There Were None”, which I can agree with to an
extent, but it was much darker pun intended lol! I like that the time periods
went from the 1980s to 2004. I love the setting of Corwall England and the
descriptive writing. I could picture myself being in the creepy house. Each
time I thought I knew what was coming and what to expect I was thrown a
curveball. There were so many twists especially the end and who the murderer
was.
Cons
There wasn’t much I disliked about the novel. The
novel was so good that I wished it were longer.
Overall
I enjoyed the novel. If you’re in the mood for a
good who done it murder mystery, and you’re a fan of Alice Feeney’s other
novels you need to get “Daisy Darker,” now.
