Books to read before watching their show and film version in 2022!

Good Evening or Good Morning depending on where you are in the world, I have more book related news to share with you. I know the past two newsletters touched on a very heavy subject. This time it will take a lighter tone. This is a list of books to read before watching their film and tv version. My source is from popsugar.com. Although the article covers 34 books, I will only cover what I haven’t reported on in the past.

Magpie Murders by Anthony Horowitz

I have not read this book by Anthony Horowitz but it sounds like something up my alley because it’s a murder mystery. Susan Reyland an editor is given an unfinished manuscript which will change her life. Though she finds herself in the middle of a real life mystery one only she can solve. Magpie Murders will be a t.v. show/mini-series and it will air on PBS. When it will air is yet to be determined. I will write an update when I know for sure. Who is casted in the show is Lesley Manville (who is also playing Princess Margaret on The Crown during her final years as well as being in the film Let Him Go), Conleth Hill, and Timothy McMullan. I know this is definitely something I want to check out.

 Pachinko by Min Jin Lee

This novel covers many generations of a Korean family living in Japan. The time span goes from 1883 to 1989. The release date is to be determined but it will be available on Apple TV. I will update everyone when the release date is. Also the cast is Youn Yuh-jung, Lee Min-ho, Jin Ha, and Anna Sawai.

Pieces of Her by Karin Slaughter

Andrea thinks she knows everything about her mother, until an act of violence reveals her mother’s secrets which takes Andrea down on a quest. This is another movie which has yet to know for sure when it will be released. Pieces of Her will be on Netflix. Who is cast in the film is Toni Collette, Bella Heathcote, David Wenham, Joe Dempsie, and Terry O’Quinn.

The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han

A teen girl named Belly loves spending summers at her family’s beach house. This time around Belly is torn between two brothers who she’s known since childhood. Jenny Han is the author of the book series To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before.  The Summer I Turned Pretty airdate is yet to be announced. It will be available on Amazon Prime Video. The cast is Lola Tung, Rachel Blanchard, Christopher Briney, Gavin Casalegno, Jackie Chung, and Tom Everett Scott.
