Behind The Book Staged With Caitlin Rother 

New York Times Bestselling Author Caitlin Rother has returned to discuss the sequel to Hooked titled Staged, which was released on June 16^th! Staged is available now on Amazon and can be ordered through any bookstore! 

Q: Welcome back to Book Notions Caitlin! Would you please give a brief description of Staged? 

A: Thank you and thanks for your continued interest in my books! 

STAGED, Book 2 in the “Katrina & Goode” series, picks up where Book 1, HOOKED, leaves off, with two sets of deaths that Katrina and Goode spend the rest of the book investigating. At first these deaths seem to be unrelated, but as the two investigators work to connect the dots, they realize that all four deaths may be connected to each other. It becomes clearer that they may also be connected to a cabal of wealthy elites who are trying to expedite the FDA approval of a groundbreaking sexual enhancement drug. As Katrina and Goode work these cases, they continue to navigate the ethical boundaries that prevent them from dating, which only seem to perpetuate the sexual tensions between them, and cause the feelings for each other to grow. Along the way, Katrina also makes a surprising discovery about her family through genetic genealogy that will change her life. 

Q: I like that in Staged we find out who was behind the deaths of Katrina’s parents and brother and why and how it tied into the mystery from the first book. Which scenes did you enjoy creating? 

A: I can’t say I enjoyed one scene more than others, because this was a whole peeling-the-onion type of discovery that unravels throughout the book. But I particularly enjoyed writing the journal entries written by Katrina’s mother, which disclose all kinds of secrets about herself and her marriage, Katrina’s family as a whole, and people who are still alive and in Katrina’s life. These discoveries will influence Katrina’s view of herself, her personal life and her career as she moves ahead in Books 3 and 4. I hope readers will be just as thrilled by the surprise as I was writing it. 

Q: What are messages and emotions that you want readers to learn and feel after they finish the book?

A: This series of books is about the frustrations and joys of sexual attraction; how money can be a corrupting influence that leads to greed and murder; and the pursuit of justice for corrupt officials and the victims of a cabal of wealthy elites who put their own success above everything else.  So, I hope people will feel the fun of the relationship between Katrina and Goode and also the suspense of how they unravel the mystery behind these deaths and murders, expose the corruption, and reveal the secrets and discoveries that affect how Katrina sees herself and her family moving forward. 

Q: Without dropping major spoilers, what can fans expect in book 3 & 4 Katrina & Ken’s story?

A: Books 3 and 4 are written but are currently under submission, so I can’t really say too much… but… the investigation into the cabal and its corruption continues to expand in new and unexpected directions in Book 3, when it finally concludes at a raid on a giant sex party. As the series continues, Katrina and Goode’s relationship continues to grow and reaches new heights. And in Book 4, when the sexual enhancement drug finally reaches the market, they are both faced with new challenges all around as mayhem ensues.
