The Sweet Tea Odyssey
The Sweet Tea Odyssey
Three generations of women Lillian, her daughter Roselyn and her granddaughter Elsie are fleeing a hurricane in South Carolina and taking a road trip to Virgina along with Roselyn’s service dog. During this trip they hash out old betrayals, secrets that needed to come out of the dark and deal with the impending passing of Lillian’s husband Ace/Grady. We also flashback to 1990 where Lillian and Grady take an odyssey to Washington DC to participate in a peaceful protest supporting the Americans With Disabilities Act.
A lot going on but still a Good Story!
It’s hard to believe that the Americans With Disabilities Act was passed not that long ago in 1990! It was interesting going back and forth between 1990 to 2026. Out of all three characters, Lillian was my favorite. Lillian had to learn to let go of the reigns and realize yes Roselyn is physically disabled but to let her live her own life. My favorite scenes however were the heart-to-heart talk between Roselyn & her father. The epilogue was also my favorite too. I will say there was a lot going on with not just going back and forth between the past, but stuff going on in the present. Some of these things I think could have been put in another book. Overall, though, it was a decent read!
