The Geography of Desire A Memoir of West Africa begins in 1978 with 24 year old Linda Gambill being involved in the Peace Corps & teaching health and education to the women in the village of Medina a very conservative Muslim community. Linda deals with culture shock new friendships and relationships form and some even last for a life time.
Interesting even if it dragged
I could picture the land of Gambia, a country that I know nothing about. The later part of the memoir I think was the more interesting part as there is the coup of the country, Linda gets married and has a daughter, then she returns to Gambia 15 years after the coup even though things are still not the safest. The memoir dragged here and there in the middle, but it was still an interesting read.
