Best Wishes from the Full Moon Coffee Shop

In Japan, cats are a symbol of good luck & as the myth goes, if you are kind to them, they’ll return the favor. If you’re kind to the right cat, there’s a pretty good chance you’ll be invited to a mysterious coffee shop in Kyoto that only appears under a full moon and is run by cats… Satomi is devoted to her career in Tokyo & her boyfriend wants to marry her. Satomi, however, is torn because she loves her career in Tokyo and prefers city life over her boyfriend’s country life, but she also loves her boyfriend too. Koyuki, who works for Satomi is not in the Christmas spirit since losing her father in a car accident years ago. She’s had to put on the act of the happy good girl. Satomi’s sister-in-law, Junko, lives in a small town with her husband and her daughter Ayu. Junko is estranged from her father, but when he’s in the hospital for health issues, she rushes home. What do the cats foretell for these characters?

Decent Sequel, Christmas Spirit & Deeper Themes

After reading The Full Moon Coffee Shop, almost two years ago, I fell in love with it. I love the cast of characters and how they’re all interconnected. Best Wishes From The Full Moon Coffee Shop was a decent sequel. I wouldn’t say it was as good as the first book as a few things seemed rushed, & I felt something was missing to make this as good as the first book. Overall, I enjoyed it! I like the fact that this book took place during Christmas time & some of the deeper themes are forgiveness of yourself and others as well as it’s never too late to have new dreams come up. What’s great is you can read each book as a standalone even though it’s a series. Though if you read the previous book, you will recognize names from the first book. Cause I went, I remember these two… If you enjoy magical realism and books that take place in another part of the world, and The Full Moon Coffee Shop, I recommend this sequel. I can’t wait to read the next one, Dreamers of the Full Moon Coffee Shop.
