Ahn Love

Ahn Love

Margaret Ahn visits her widowed father Sam Ahn for his 90th birthday. Sam’s loneliness is marked by a conviction if his orchids ever bloom that his wife and Margaret’s mother would come back to life. They also reminisce about the 7-day cruise the Ahn family took in the Pacific in the year 1969. Margaret falls in love with a handsome Korean Brit named Adam Kang, Uncle Bong made a choice where the family felt betrayed. Margaret’s mother’s encounter with a Brazilian playboy charted her death a decade later.

A Story of Reminiscing & The Present

The story goes back and forth between 1969 and 2019. I could picture the cruise, and I love the bond between Margaret and her father Sam. I also love how encouraging Margaret’s father is for her to take up writing again even when Margaret in the present(ish) day isn’t so sure. It really warms my heart. Not many family members cheer their children whether young or grown adults to follow their passion. Something tells me I would get along with Sam Ahn. I also liked reading the bittersweet moment between Sam and Uncle Bong. The book is a quick read it might drag in places, but I enjoyed it. Ahn Love will be available on November 3rd, 2026, in the US.
