The Guest Cottage
Bramble is somewhere to find community and a place to start over. That’s exactly what Marlow Heddings is choosing to do after her soon to be ex husband died in a car accident. While in Bramble she meets the locals and falls in love with an ex-Marine named Cort. Marlow also becomes a big sister to the woman her husband was cheating on her with, Pixie Nolan and becomes a surrogate aunt to Pixie’s son Andy. This is a story of starting over, community, forgiveness and love.
Story, Description & Characters
The Guest Cottage is my first introduction to Lori Foster as an author and I enjoyed it. I recently did a Q&A with her too. I love the relationship and chemistry between Marlow & Cort. I love the sisterhood between Marlow and Pixie, something like that isn’t always easy considering the circumstances. I also like that the story touches on how while we hate that tragedy and suffering comes into our lives, that at the same time, it can open up to something wonderful and even better than we can ever imagine. I love the descriptions of the lake and the sunrise and sunsets. Lori has a gift of using her words to make these places come to life. It might have been slow in places but I still enjoyed the novel & can’t wait to read the standalone sequel The Lake House discussing Pixie’s story.
