Dreamt I Found You
As little girls, Dahee & Channing Shin were cousins as close as sisters also spending time with their grandfather as he told them Korean tales. One such tale, was Chunhyang & Mongryong which is Korea’s parallel to Romeo and Juliet. Since hearing the story, Channing wanted a love just like Chunhyang and Mongryong, Dahee was less open to the idea of such an epic love and vowed she would protect her cousin from heartbreak when dreams didn’t come true. As an adult, Channing fell in love with Minjae Oh while fighting off the advances of cunning, cocky & manipulative local politician Kent Cho. As Kent’s obsession grows, and the love between Channing and Minjae deepen, can Dahee help Minjae & Channing escape a similar end to Chunyang and Mongryong?
Story, Characters, Familial Love & Romantic Love
While I enjoyed Jimin Han’s debut The Apology, Dreamt I Found You really knocked the ball out of the park. I love how Channing and Minjae’s story is parallel to Chunhyang and Mongryong. You knew who, who was. It can be hard to tell a modern version of a classic story or reimagine it without making it cheesy, but Jimin did a great job. I like Dahee, and Channing and I love how even though they’re cousins their bond is as close as sisters. I love their bond with the grandfather, and it reminds me of how close I am to my grandfather. I love the town of East End, and I love that even Dahee gets a little love too. If you’re in the mood for a love story that has familial love and is a character driven story, get a copy of Dreamt I Found You which will be available on April 28th!
