Q&A With Beth Mims

Beth Mims is the author of the Christian devotional book, Wrapped in Grace Finding Power In Praise And Peace In His Prescence. I’m so excited that Mickey Mikkelson has connected me with Beth!

Q: Welcome to Book Notions Beth! I’m very happy to have you here! Would you please give a description of each of your books beginning with your recent release Wrapped in Grace?

A: Thank you so much for this opportunity. I’m excited to be a part of Book Notions. Wrapped in Grace: Finding Power in Praise and Peace in His Presence is my first book. This collection contains sixty-five devotions in addition to poetry designed to help readers see God at work in the everyday happenings of life, to experience Him no matter what is going on around in the world around us. Prose and poetry blend to speak grace and peace to the reader.

Each reading is based on a life experience, often very personal or funny, or a Bible reading. These stories and Bible readings aim to connect with readers and speak grace into hearts that are busy and overwhelmed. Each devotion ends with a prayer and a reflection, inviting readers to stop and ponder the truths presented.

Wrapped in Grace is designed to be flexible in its use – it can be read a little or a lot at the time. You don’t have to be a Bible scholar, but I do hope you come away knowing more than when you started. A brief Bible study is included at the end of the book for those who may wish to use the book with a group study.

Q: Do you feel as though God called you to be an author, just like he called me to be a book blogger? How long does it take you to write a book?

A: The short answer is “yes”. I love this question, though, because before I wrote the book, I was a blogger. My public writing journey began with my blog, GraceSpeak, in 2018. I felt God was calling me to communicate His grace through both speaking and writing, so I began publishing devotions online. I continue to share devotions weekly on my website at www.bethmims.com

After almost five years of blogging, I felt God prompting me to create a book. Initially, I struggled to bring the project together. Ultimately, when God inspired the title poem, “Wrapped in Grace,” which is based on my granddaughter, the book found its direction and took shape.

I could say that I have been working on this book for years, and that would be true. However, I wrote the poem “Wrapped in Grace” a little over a year ago. The outline and format of the book came together after that.

Key Lessons and Reminders

Q: What are the most important lessons and reminders you want the world to take away after reading your work, especially Wrapped in Grace

A: No one is beyond God’s care or reach. God is intimately involved with the smallest details of our lives. He loves us, and He wants a relationship with us. We can experience God’s peace in our daily lives no matter what is going on in the world around us. God is bigger than the coffee that spilled this morning or the angry person you met or crisis you are facing. He is ready and willing to wrap you in His grace.

Here’s a sample from the book:

Place of Grace

When my heart struggles to find the light,

when darkness deepens and wrong seems right –

I know a refuge, I know a place

where I find truth, and I find grace.

When I am blown by the winds of doubt,

When waves of fear toss my soul about –

I know a refuge, I know a place

where I find peace in my Savior’s grace.

When my heart cries for help and ease,

His gracious heart hears my earnest plea.

He pulls me into His sweet embrace –

there I find mercy and I find grace.

Q: Are you currently writing something similar to Wrapped in Grace? Or are you working on something different?

A: I continue to write poetry that is submitted to a variety of literary journals. I have also completed a children’s book “How Christmas Came”, which will be released in November 2026. I am working on a series of essays and devotions, prose mixed with poetry, and several children’s books are in the works as well. I am eager to see how God will orchestrate and use these projects in the days ahead.
