The Board: Despite the slow burns, it did not leave me Bored
All single mother Olivia Wilcox wants to do is make a fresh start with her daughter Piper, after a messy divorce and messier job loss. They move from Boston to a small town in New Hampshire where not everything is what it seems, especially with Piper’s new school. What makes this situation worse? A teacher was forced to resign and go elsewhere and someone else had been missing for months. Can Olivia solve the mystery of the school before time runs out?
Pacing, Story & Characters
While the pacing was slow at times, it wasn’t so slow that I lost interest the story did keep my interest. I also love the atmospheric fall setting in New Hampshire. I do like the side characters such as the next-door neighbor Till, Silas and the guidance counselor better than the main character Olivia. Olivia kept making questionable choices that put her and her daughter in danger & sometimes I wanted to put her head straight. Regardless, I still enjoyed the story. If you’re in the mood for a quick read that is perfect for this fall season get a copy of The Board which came out on September 9th and is available wherever you get your books.
