Mexican Gothic Mini Series on Hulu

Silvia Moreno-Garcia’s bestselling novel, “Mexican Gothic,” is being adapted into a mini-series at Hulu. According to bibliophile.com Hulu and ABC have optioned the series, to be aired on Hulu. Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos’ Milojo Productions and ABC signature studios are developing the series for Hulu. Author Moreno-Garcia will serve as an executive producer. For those who haven’t read the novel, “Mexican Gothic,” is a gothic horror mystery. Noemí Taboada and her family get a frantic letter from her cousin Catalina. In the letter Catalina claims that her husband Virgil, and his family are killing her. Noemi being concerned about her husband goes to High Place, a spooky manor in the Mexican countryside. There Noemi goes to High Place to investigate.

The mini-series will have 8 to 10 episodes. According to Garcia via bibliophile.com Because of the time length that we are talking about, there’s probably going to be an expansion of certain storylines that is not present in the original novel, but we haven’t gone in and said exactly what that might look like.” If there’s going to be an expansion of certain storylines, I will probably enjoy the show more than I did the book. After finishing the mini-series I will do a book vs adaption review and tell you which one is better. While the book isn’t everyone’s cup of tea (including mine) its at least something fun to read and watch even if it’s a hot mess.
