House of the Dragon Casting!

I’m a little late in reporting some book related news. I apologize for that. Corona Virus is getting to us all but I’m remaining with my head held high in the reminder that this nasty virus won’t last forever. Some great news to get you through this difficult time is there has been casting for the House of the Dragon t.v. series which is a Game of Thrones Spin-off. House of the Dragon is based on the book “Fire and Blood”. The book/show takes place 300 years before the events of the regular show. Game of Thrones Twitter page tweeted a two pictures of a dragon and tweeted that the show begins production in 2021. The actors being casted for the show are Olivia Cooke, Matt Smith and Emma D’Arcy.

Olivia Cooke plays Alicent Hightower, the daughter of Otto Hightower, the Hand of the King and the most comely woman in the Seven Kingdoms. She was raised in the Red Keep, close to the king and his innermost circle: she possesses both a courtly grace and a keen political acumen.

According to Deadline.com Emma D’Arcy plays Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen who is the kings first born child. She is of pure Valyrian blood, and she is a dragon rider. Many would say that Rhaenyra was born with everything—but she was nor born a man.

Matt Smith plays Daemon Targaryen, younger brother to King Viserys and heir to the throne. A fearless warrior and a dragonrider, Daemon possesses the true blood of the dragon. But it is said that whenever a Targaryen is born, the gods toss a coin in the air.

Olivia Cooke is a British actress, best known for playing Emma Decody in the show Bates Motel and in the movie Ouija that came out in 2014 and in the film Ready Player One that was based on the book of the same name. Matt Smith is a British Actor. Matt Smith is best known for Dr. Who as the 11th Doctor. Smith has also been in Pride and Prejudice and Zombies based on the book of the same name. If any of my readers are a huge fan of The Crown, Matt Smith played Prince Phillip in the first two seasons of the show.
