What’s in a Kiss?

Many of us have asked ourselves what if? What if I followed my dreams of becoming a writer, actor etc.? What if I kissed this guy or girl back in highschool? Our main character Olivia gets a taste of what her life would have been like if her crush and nemesis Jake Glasswell & her kissed that night at prom ten years ago. This time Olivia chose to go to Julliard and became a famous actress only this time Jake is the one who didn’t get his talk show, & her mother and her best friend Masha, hate Olivia’s guts. What’s truly in a kiss? Maybe everything….

Writing, Characters & an Important Reminder

I am a fan of Lauren Kate’s writing, and I feel as though many of us relate to Olivia “Liv” than we like to admit. We all wonder “What if?” I like the character of Jake both in this reality and the alternate reality that Liv ends up in. Jake is so charming <3. Yogi Dan is hilarious. I can understand Liv wanting to follow her dreams & I can understand there’s resentment from her mom and best friend in this alternate world. I love that this book is an important reminder of it being natural to wonder “What if?” but we can’t let it drive us crazy & that while we make our own choices, everything happens for a reason. Even if things happened differently there would still be obstacles to deal with. This year in fiction it seems to remind me of that important lesson often.
