Till Death Do Us Part
Till Death Do Us Part
What if the love of your life whom you thought had been dead for ten years, suddenly shows up alive and well and with a different life than the one you had planned? In 2012, June loses her husband Josh on their honeymoon. Josh supposedly drowned though his body has never been found. A decade later in 2022, June is about to give love and marriage another go as she’s engaged to a kind man named Kyle. As they prepare for their nuptials however, June starts to see Josh alive and well and then she sees Josh’s face on a website for a winery in Napa Valley California under a new name with a wife and family. Did Josh fake his death all those years ago? Or did something more sinister happen? June is on a quest for answers but not all of them she is ready to hear.
Story, Writing, Characters & Twists
I love the story and everyone who knows me well knows I’m a sucker for mysteries. The writing is descriptive, and it takes me to Napa Valley California, and I see the grapes and wine. The pacing is slower than I would have liked but it wasn’t too slow to where I wanted to give up. The character I felt the sorriest for was Kyle. Kyle loves June but it’s clear that she’s still mourning Josh years later & hasn’t let him go. Even when everyone tells June the red flags about Josh, she still wants to believe it’s someone else’s fault until she is forced not to. I did enjoy reading June’s parts better than Bev’s. Bev’s storyline as Josh’s mother I didn’t care for. There were twists I didn’t see coming. A big one in the middle and the epilogue where we finally find out who the killer was. I was a little disappointed that June never really found out who murdered Josh, but I enjoyed the ending.
Overall
Overall if you enjoy mysteries and don’t mind the story moving at a slightly slower pace, then I recommend Till Death Do Us Part by Laurie Elizabeth Flynn. You can also read our Q&A I did with her a while back here by clicking on this link. https://booknotions.com/qa-with-laurie-elizabeth-flynn/
